First Taste of Winter

"Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while." ~ Kin Hubbard

Like many of you, I've been battling the weather today. While yesterday was a sunny 75 degrees, this morning I awoke to frost-bitten toes. Okay, maybe that's a tad dramatic. But seriously, my car was covered in ice when I left for work. And since I hadn't yet figured out the defroster in my new car, I spent the whole drive with my face squished against the windshield so I could see.

J called me at lunch to say that he was home to let the dogs in, and apparently I left the windows down in my old car and the seats are now frozen. Niiice. At least I doubt anyone interested in buying it will want to venture over today.

The Christmas party Saturday night was ... well, let's just say it didn't live up to the hype the hosts had created. Don't get me wrong, it was great to catch up with old friends and there was enough alcohol to serve a large army. But with 40 people, you'd think there would be more than just store-bought cookies and crackers to help absorb the alcohol.

And, being one of the first to arrive, I quickly discovered that people thought the "Dress to Impress" was optional. Luckily, a few other lovely ladies showed up sporting dresses and sparkly things, though J continued to glare at me throughout the night for making him wear slacks while the other guys lounged around in jeans.

Ohwell. Any night with friends is a good night. And any excuse to dress up is always ... umm ... fun?

Isn't Texas weather the weirdest?! Over the weekend my place was so hot I had to use the air conditioner. Now, it's totally freezing and my heater is on! Ridiculous!

I usually end up leaving my windows open when it rains! Hope you find out how to use the new car soon - I hate it when the windows dont defrost!

What a bummer that most of the other folks at the party didn't dress up! That is one of the things that will send me quickly into a spiral of worry- if I don't "match" the other people at an event once I'm already there. Don't people dress up anymore??! I'm glad you made the most of it but I totally get why it left a bad taste in your mouth.

Ah, yes, your layout is fixed now. The brown is no longer clashing with the letters! Great.

I think if people hold a party and say "dress to impress" people should make an effort. Its like going to a fancy dress where half the people dont wear costumes - it spoils it a bit

Absolutely and who doesn't love being the most spectacular at a party!? :)

At least you guys were the best dressed couple! That's never bad :)

Taste of winter indeed! Hah!

You've seen what we're dealing with up here, Izzy and it keeps coming. Funny thing is, people in the Seattle area have no idea how to deal when the rare winter weather descends.
The safest thing to do ends up being throwing on some comfy clothes and telecommuting (like today).

Thanks for noting my page on yours. I already subscribe to your posts; you just can't get enough "good attitude" these days! But, like, am I the only guy following this page or what?

Lol, David, sounds like Texans aren't the only bad drivers in a little slush. And there's a couple of guys that pop by every once in awhile ... mostly when I talk about things like fishing :-)
